Explaination of rules 1) Members of the forum who are standing for the general election on December 12th 2019, declare themselves on this thread stating which constituency they are standing in and for which party 2) When nominations close on November 14th, I shall create a formal list of all the constituencies where members are standing with shall be complete by November 28th 3) From November 29th 2019 until 9.00am GMT on December 12th, entries are accepted in the standard format (what percentage share of the vote will each duly nominated candidate get) 4) Points will also be awarded for correctly guessing if the forum member will be elected (A correct guess will earn one point, but an incorrect guess will see a point taken away) and the overall result of the constituency (a correct guess will earn one point, an incorrect guess will lose a point) 5) When all the results have been tallied, I shall declare the winner before Christmas Eve 2019
I therefore declare the General Election 2019 Prediction Competition open for forum members who are candidates to formally declare themselves.

To clarify, does that party actually have to be standing in that seat in the real election for someone to nominate themselves for that party in that seat in this competition? 👽 If a member of the forum is standing for the general election, either as a party or an independent, they are deemed to be part of the competition

Not to be rude, but did Daft H'a'porth A'peth A'pith really stand as opposed to just nominating himself in this competition? There is no Yorkshire Party candidate for the Hallam SOPN.

I cannot find the nominations for Sheffield, Hallam on the website but if he is not a duly nominated candidate he is not eligible for the competition.

I always took that as a little joke from Daft H'a'porth A'peth A'pith. After all he is claiming to be alien8ted from all of this.

So only LD and Green candidates standing this time around?? I imagine most candidates who post or lurk here and have a serious chance of winning have no interest in declaring themselves here! Given the social media-inspired bloodbath going on at the moment.

We also have a Conservative standing, but I am hoping that a few more parties will declare before I post the final list of forum candidates who are standing

The deadline for forum members who are standing in the general election to declare themselves as such is on November 28th at 12.00pm. That afternoon I will post the formal list of who is standing where, the swing they need to win that seat and open the prediction competition.

We do have a distinguished poster on the Forum, who is a member of the House, but in the " other place " ! Not for him the nerve wracking emotions of putting himself up for election by mere " plebians " ...

Except of course, that he has been elected on a number of occasions for both Lancashire County Council and Pendle council (and one of its predecessors Colne council).

I think you're only supposed to predict the share of the vote for the candidates listed above, not for all the candidates in their constituencies.
