Yes I understand it’s their property, and that they should and do have the right to place restrictions should it be deemed necessary. What I’m saying is I think it would be more logical to have a situation whereby there is a presumption in favour of something as generally harmless (and moveable) as an a-board, with the council only getting involved if a particular situation has become problematic. That would be the sort of streamlining of a regulatory process that would be sensible and uncomplicated, and free up time at the council for more important things, with no real negative impact on society. I doubt it would free up time at the council; rather the opposite. If that’s the case then the world has truly gone mad. But actually councillors inventing work to justify their own existence is nothing new.

Given Swale has slashed the SRAs? Well, 23 councillors last year sharing over £180k in SRAs in a relatively small Borough Council was unsustainable in the run-up to the all-out elections, wasn't it? Now it's only, what, 18 councillors? sorry, just doing that from memory rather than looking it up. What I do remember clearly is that your Leader's SRA this year, at just under £17k, is more than a third up on your SRA last year. But, as you say, the SRAs have been slashed. And there aren't that many small Borough Councils which maintain a Mayoral Car and a Mayor's chauffeur. No, Swale is clearly a model of frugality.

This slashed the SRAs massively both in number and amount. As for my SRA, that would probably have something to do with me now being Leader - they do tend to get a higher SRA than the Deputy. You will of course also have remembered but not bothered to share that the Leader's SRA this year is lower than last years I see half-truths and twisting continues to infect the Tories from top to bottom.

Banister & Polygon is a funny ward name 'I met a bird that wasn't there, everyday upon the stair'.

Banister & Polygon is a funny ward name The history of the Polygon is worth a read. An attempt to turn Southampton into a Bath of the South Coast, which failed with an early bankruptcy.
It lead to a London Polygon which also failed to thrive, but housed both Mary Wollstonecraft and Charles Dickens at various times.

Banister & Polygon is a funny ward name Without wanting to seem argumentative, it actually makes a lot of sense - it takes in the areas known as the Polygon and Bannister Park.

Draft recommendations for North Hertfordshire and Cheltenham are also now available, as are final recommendations for Stevenage. North Hertfordshire's are the most extensive and interesting since they are moving to full council elections from 2024 onwards, and only 4 existing North Herts wards (Knebworth, Hitchin Walsworth, Ermine, and Hitchin Bearton) remain unchanged.

I once stayed in the Polygon Hotel (I worked in the Glasgow office of Skandia Life). All I remember of my stay was making the schoolboy error of ordering "whole lemon sole", forgetting that "whole" meant including head, tail and some insides.
