"Others" is term that has very often been used for parties which have come 4th or below in elections and opinion poll results.
Has it become obsolete for good? We have now reached a point where the "Others" are doing very well - they scored 31% against Labour's 30% the other day according to YouGov's graphic. The most recent ORB poll had the leading party on 29%. This is very possibly the first time the leading party has ever failed to score over 30% since polling began nearly eight decades ago.
I'm aware on this forum that we like to see the full picture, not just what the top three parties' scores are. The only time we should perhaps be using the term "Others" is for political parties which individually achieve 0% in opinion polls after rounding. Apart from that we should encourage broadcasters and polling organisations - wherever we see it - to consign the term "Others" to the dustbin of history.

I agree with the sentiment. Any party who polls 1% or greater is worthy of specific mention on a forum like this

Others should be for very minor parties eg sdp, liberal etc, independents and independent parties. It is nonsense to list others as 31%.

Any ideas on how we can achieve this aim?

IIRC a pollster recently specifically mentioned the Liberal Democrat’s polling at 10% but included the Brexit Party in Others when they were polling a lot higher. It’s not usually that bad, but you still sometimes see the Greens excluded and the SNP are often excluded.

The use of "Others" reflects the fact that, under FPTP, their votes scarcely matter.

I am disappointed. I thought this was a thread about ice zombies from the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.
