The newspapers reported a likely by election in the double member Portsmouth constituency as the Liberal Walter Clough would probably be forced to resign "in consequence of his inability to carry a case in the Appeal court in reference to the Indiarubber Mexico company ltd".

There was an election for churchwardens in Malvern with Mr Griffiths triumphing by 177 votes to 151 over Mr Bullock.
The Worcestershire Chronicle reported that "This announcement was greeted with loud cheers. A blue flag, edged with pink, and the words 'Griffiths for ever' was exhibited throughout the town during the evening".
