The by election prediction compliance unit would like a word.... I predict that Plaid will do better than Forza Italia, SMER and Democrats & Veterans. However, an AKP win cannot be totally ruled out. The posters may already have been printed.

I know we’ve all seen the results, but a useful graph nonetheless under 24hrs to go: Uuuugh, not taking part is not the same as 0 votes! Amateur graph makers. I've seen worse graphs - can't think where..

I think we can assume that NSDAP will lose their deposit.

Important update for those who are still following the election: it’s utterly pissing it down in Newport right now.
(I work here am not campaigning)

I find it difficult to whip up enthusiasm for this as the victor is certain, 2nd is certain and the rest don't matter and are not interesting. So bed earlier and read about it here tomorrow.

I hadn't even realised this was taking place today, perhaps says a lot about my level of interest in the result.

Presumably the wettest party will benefit! absolute shower. the lot of them. Load of drips. But more seriously, it will benefit those who get most from postal votes, which is likely to be Conservatives, especially as postal votes will have been cast before the most recent shenanigans nationally. So it might make it a bit closer than expected.

People apply for postal votes for all sorts of reason nowadays, and even when it was only really open to the elderly and infirm, this would, in a place llike Newport, include quite a lot of Labour voters too.
