I recently found a dump from the OnSide database, timestamped 2002. There are some absolutely fucking ridiculous names on there. Damon Albarn?!? Charlotte Church!?! Whatever possible reason could anyone have had for putting them on the list, even under the 'speculative' or 'ex' categories? Also interesting to note how many of the living supporters on the list are now dead. What does all of this mean? What does "a dump" mean? What is "the OnSide database"? What list? And what has any of that got to do with Coronation Street?
It has nothing to do with Coronation Street, apart from William Roache happening to be on the list.
OnSide was the database of celebrity supporters/endorsements maintained by/for Conservative Future until around 2003. I built a web front-end for it back in the day and consequently had access to the database. As I say, some highly dubious names on there.

Guessing Ronnie Corbett, Christopher Lee, Bruce Forsyth, Cilla Black, Terry Wogan, Jim Bowen, Dale Winton, Bob Monkouse, Roger Moore and Ken Dodd for starters. Lots of people born in the 1920s and 1930s in showbusiness were Conservatives. Things start to change with those who became famous in the 80s and 90s onwards.

Sirbenjamin has already explained the rest, but "a dump" in this context basically means that he found a file containing data from that database. The term would usually imply that the file contained all of the data, but it can be used in the case of a file that only contained part of it.

Guessing Ronnie Corbett, Christopher Lee, Bruce Forsyth, Cilla Black, Terry Wogan, Jim Bowen, Dale Winton, Bob Monkouse, Roger Moore and Ken Dodd for starters Most of those were "out and proud" Tories - interested in Wogan's inclusion though as I don't think he ever went public.

Perhaps not as blatant as some but I reckon he was a shy Tory.

I've heard rumours that Forsyth was a bit of a lefty, but not sure how much merit they have. I don't think he ever outright stated any Tory sympathies. Cilla actually sang Happy Birthday to Tony Blair (a la Marilyn Monroe) for his 50th IIRC, even though she had explicitly declared support for the Tories on multiple occasions beforehand. Never heard much about the political views of Bowen and Winton tbh.
