Its Cllr Martin Cummins. Long-standing activist, and I hope he will return to membership in time Well, he's hardly likely to get a veto of which photo-ops the Labour leader takes part in, when outside the party .

Cameron, Clegg and Miliband are all buffoons on this. Ignoring Hillsborough, they should have better things to do with their time. Quite. Repeated many times.

Never understand how these sway anyone's voting intention in a positive way. He would have done better with saying 'I support England' and then found the nearest recycling bin for his copy of the paper.

I've put this elsewhere, but there's nothing nor or improper about the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition courting the readership of the nation's best-selling newspaper. That readership is as valid and important part of the electorate as any of us.

So, who will the Liverpudlians turn to - the Liberal Democrats, whose own glorious leader also held up the appalling rag? This is not a real story - it is faux anger purporting to be as important as the real hurt of the Hillsborough victims' families. All the leaders look daft, but the "pretend" victims (those who knew nobody affected by Hillsborough) are in danger of looking the silliest of all.

I'm sure someone can correct me, but there was no such noise when the Sun backed Blair. This is as real a story as the nonsense in Scotland that doesn't really involve Pat Lally.

I have no love for the Sun, and think that Rupert Murdoch is one of the most pernicious influences on the UK body politic, but I do feel very uncomfortable about all the "send it back wrapped round a half brick to the Sun free post address" stuff on Facebook. It strikes me as nasty, intolerant and, dare I say it, unbritish.

I daresay that he won't be missed by his colleagues, then.

Rob Appleyard, B&NES Westfield, ex-Lab, now indie, reported to have joined LibDems Seems somewhat surprising, did he not find the Independent group on B&NES to his taste? He's not likely to be re-elected in Westfield in those colours. As the other Westfield councillor, presumably you have views on this rumour Robin?

From the listings on the council website he was not a member of the Independent group on the council but in his own group of one .

Now confirmed Rob joined the LibDem group at their meeting last night. A bit surprised yes, to put it mildly !! As Mark says he wasn't a member of the Indie group, but 'unaligned' (I understand that the other unaligned cllr, for Peasdown St John, Nathan Hartley, ex-LibDem, ex cabinet member, ex deputy leader of LibDems & council..... is now an 'Official' Indie). We live in exciting times, well for B&NES anyway ... As far as Westfield goes I'm not sure what Rob is planning to do, but traditionally indies have done well, while the LibDems haven't.... & he also lives in Bath now.

It seems that former Conservative group and council leader in Dudley Les Jones (and his wife) have rejoined the group having left earlier in the year.

Just I can't find anything anywhere, not even on sefton council's website or the local paper. I was told about it today by a councillor - it doesn't appear to have hit the public space yet though it has been quoted on a Facebook site administered by a Sefton Labour councillor

Indeed. They will almost definitely lose another one next year, which means they will only hold the Harington ward in Sefton Central.
