Yes and no. In this case I'd set up with PayPal and despite trawling my emails (and text messages, just in case) I can't find a reminder. It doesn't normally happen to me but if I paid twice a year I'd definitely remember. It just struck me as my mum had had a reminder this morning from British Gas that her annual service contract renews in February. It's a good point, maybe one warning two months out and another a month out might be a good idea. My payment was to the Society of Professional Economists. I knew it was looming but it's one of those things that's been put on the back burner. It may be that a lot of people have been caught out by annual DDs they've not been able to use due to the covid situation.

Possibly; I know I get reminders for a couple of charity memberships, and we both got one before Christmas from the Labour Party giving us about month’s notice.

His previous time in Ukip has not left much trace on the web but it seems the party is trying to re-recruit people who left during the Batten year.

All change at Scarborough where long-standing Conservative Jane Mortimer has left the opposition Conservative Group, just before committee memberships were due to be allocated. The council is now Ruling Labour 13, Conservatives 13, Independent Group 7, Yorkshire Coast Independent Alliance 5, the Cluster of Independent Members 4, Greens 2, No Political Affiliation 2. I think four collections of independents is still one short of the record. This is going to make a mess of my spreadsheet.

Some Independents Group; some ally on the beach; some Cluster (surely not allowed at present?); and others just potter along by themselves. What on earth does it all mean?

The three LibDems Councillors for Weybridge Riverside on Elmbridge BC - Andrew Davis, Vicki Macleod and Ashley Tilling - have left the LibDem Group to sit as independents. Former parliamentary candidate Andrew Davis was, until today, Deputy Leader of the Council and LibDem Group Leader. He has been replaced as Group Leader by Claygate’s Mary Marshall and rumours suggest he did not go entirely by choice. Davis has not been replaced as Cabinet Member for Transport, with that role being assumed by the RA Leader of the Council. Vicki Macleod and Ashley Tilling have now rejoined the LibDem Group. The third councillor who left with them, Andrew Davis, sadly died earlier this month.

From October, but it looks like there's been another defection in Burnley not yet noted on this thread. Andrew Newhouse, Conservative member (and group leader until last May) for the Cliviger with Worsthorne ward, to the Burnley and Padiham Independent Party, for whom he will be defending his seat whenever the 2020 elections eventually happen.

Is that winnable for the BPIP? It's got a relatively strong independent character, but I don't know if they can stretch that far to gain it.

I am not sure that Cliviger and Worsthorne will vote for "Burnley and Padiham". But we will see. He was deposed by the ex-UKIP/Brexit takeover of the Tory group. Wonder what Cosima will make of it.

Is that the same John Tennant who was a Brexit Party MEP?
Who has also been a councillor for Ukip, "Independent Union" and the Brexit Party?
I don't in principle oppose the idea that one can be in different political groups in different tiers of government but the idea he's some new recruit is fanciful.
Unless Reform UK really is a different party from the Brexit Party?

Cllr Priestley is a former Lib Dem who was their cabinet member for environment.
He contested Aberconwy Senedd seat for the LDs in 2011 and for Labour in 2016.

Just a quick update on Test Valley (and Andover). The Andover Alliance which swept out seven Tories at TVBC in May 2019 has now been reduced to a rump (pun intended) of that party's founder. In fact the AA was itself deregistered as a party late last year after the "leader" claimed it was the only way he could get the nominating officer (a member of the Andover Independents Party - which includes me) out of the position.
Now a week or two back he reregistered the party (the AA) minus the recalcitrant nominating officer and with three members (one being an ex-radio "personality" and the others being himself and a Town Councillor). The mother of the Town Councillor has now informed on social media that her son is not a member of the party and so suddenly the new party has lost half its representation. Why the mother's intervention? Because the party leader had abused her on social media last year... as is his want....
Don't let me get started on the Town Council...
