If the Tories were going to do bad here then god help them in other less favourable areas. I would guess this is a de-selection row or does race have anything to do with it ? No surprise that we more than likely will not win a Division in Chesham. However I expect us to be able to win a couple of seats in The High Wycombe area.

Anne Hawkesworth Conservative councillor for Ilkley ward on Bradford MBC has left the Conservative group to become an Independent . She attacks the current tory group leader . As a point of interest she says she will remain a member of the Conservative party nationally . Would that in fact be allowed ?

I think it depends on what their office thinks centrally.. we had two Conservative groups in Aberdeen and I *think* both were recognised.

I think this is Jenny Tonge's position in the Lords? When did Jenny Tonge join the Tories... ;D I suspect you realised that I meant Jenny does not take the LD whip, but is a member of the Liberal Democrat national party.

Theressa Bowen, Llwynhendy, Carmarthenshire. Labour to Independent. No news yet on whether this defector remains unaffiliated or will join the Independent group. The latter would be quite interesting, as it would effect whether the Indies or Labour were the larger group in Carmarthenshire. Although the coalition remained in power following last year's elections, the leadership passed to Labour after they won more seats than the Indies. News too from Pembrokeshire, where the Independent Group now holds a tenuous grasp on power with some help from Labour, or more accurately, some Labour members. A councillor has left the ruling group and may seek to set up a rival Independent Group. www.westerntelegraph.co.uk/news/10162096.Senior_councillor_Peter_Stock_resigns_from_ruling_Pembrokeshire_County_Council_group_over__lack_of_action_/Ah, I think I'll pour myself a port, sit back, and watch Pembs become the new Anglesey.

Ah, yes. Took him some time though. As for the Tories, the Sittingbourne News Extra reports that sitting councillor for Sheppey, Adrian Crowther, has been deselected in favour of Ken Pugh, the current councillor for Sheerness - presumably moving next door in search of a safer seat. Richard Darby will fight Sheerness. Cllr Crowther said, philosophically, 'that's politics' but perhaps the internal discussions on this were not so relaxed. Suppose it takes a while for any action to take place on Sheppey- don't they still point at planes there?

Local issues played quite a big part in this... he will still be a Borough cllr until 2015 and has been getting jip over the housing plans for Minster and Eastchurch.
