Peter Hain (now Lord Hain) undoubtedly considered it personally important because the same John Warman was the continuity SDP candidate in the 1991 Neath by-election that elected Peter Hain to Parliament.

This seems to be the hyped news. I thought these people were already in Reform.

Most of them were Brexit Party MEPs weren’t they?

All of them were Brexit Party MEPs. So the news is six people have returned to the party (if we count the Brexit Party as the same party)? There's only one name there the average person will have heard of and I doubt many people are going to be won over by the news Ann Widdecombe is back in the party.
It's not like they've got a defection from a sitting Conservative MP or Farage returning to lead the party. Very underwhelming...

this over-excitement reminds of nothing more than Father Dougal Maguire.

Is the Reform UK Party just the new / renamed name of the Brexit Party? (I thought it was) Or is the Reform UK Party technically a new / different party? (I thought it wasn’t) i.e. is there technically a continuing “Brexit Party” which is separate from Reform UK? (not that I know of)
So this exciting news is that some obscure people and Ann Widdicombe have either rejoined a party which they left, or that they are continuing to be members of a party of which they were already members.
This astonishingly exciting and important news must be why it has been the main topic on the TV News all day long so far.

Which channel is actually running this non-story, and why don't they have anything interesting or important to report?

All of them were Brexit Party MEPs. But not members. Didn't Farage initially structure the party so that he was about the only member with everyone else a supporter?

I was chatting with my Mum earlier, who supported Brexit (gone from being on the anti-Common Market left to the pro-Brexit Johnsonite Conservatives, whilst remaining a CND supporter, because, well, people are not obvious) and chatted about the announcement - when I said that almost every voter would ask of all but one "Who are they?" she was quick to correct me, "No Gerard, they would ask "Whom are they?", and I have to admit, except for Anne Widdecombe, I have no idea." She kind of likes Keir Starmer: "He speaks clearly, and dresses well".
