In any case, I'm not sure the phrase en masse can really be used in conjunction with Renew...

Not a perfect place to put this, but it appears that the Christian Party, and Christian Peoples Alliance, are to merge. They've withdrawn their mutual anathemas? That's nice.

When's Andrew Stott's turn? I Googled 'Andrew Stott Newbury'- the first link was a story about candidates who'd lost their deposit 😁

If he did become leader I'd be quite tempted to rejoin (Bill Etheridge that is, not Andrew Stott)

UKIP has no reason to exist, though. We are out of the EU and nearing the end of the transition period.

UKIP has no reason to exist, though. We are out of the EU and nearing the end of the transition period. That is arguable, but unlike the Green party, UKIP ceased to be a single issue party many years ago. Indeed leaving the EU was not the principal issue over which I first joined the party in 2006. As the statement on their website says "UKIP is the only party which can tackle the incessant government state power grab and looming economic disaster, as well as holding the Government to account over illegal immigration and stand up for Britain in the face of cultural attacks from the likes of Black Lives Matter who are trying to destroy our heritage and our history". Again arguable whether they are the 'only' party which can do that, or that they are in much of a position to do so nowadays, but it is a sentiment that will resonate with many people (me included, you probably not so much)

UKIP will not keep its current name if it does survive, splintered and fragmented as it is.

Arguably, UKIP as a name is still relevant, if it's now taken to mean independence from *all* unwelcome external influences - UN, EU, ECHR, etc. (Except for foreign billionaire media oligarchs, of course, which are always welcome at UKIP)

UKIP will not keep its current name if it does survive, splintered and fragmented as it is. The Ukip name is something that will be fiercely fought over for its legacy value. Long term people will remember Ukip for Farage and the long term campaign to leave the EU and forget Batten and Tommy Robinson (and just about all the other leaders and incidents). There will be those determined to cling onto it.

But saying that they couldn't have another breakout in the future backed by the brand name, they very well could, just that the vote doesn't really seem to stick with them through thick and thin.

UKIP has no reason to exist, though. We are out of the EU and nearing the end of the transition period. There's still the chance to leave NATO, the UN, the Commonwealth and FIFA.

I would have thought the natural cause for Ukip to combine Brexit, culture wars and populism would be to campaign to withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest.
