He'll have to go back to his tediously dull poetry.

Dublin Mid West has once again said "Fuck you!" to Paul Gogarty. I note from looking up what he's been up to that he once lost a celebrity GAA football management competition on telly to Tony Cascarino. This is profound useless but brilliant knowledge.

He'll have to go back to his tediously dull poetry. It takes some talent to be wrong in so many different ways in just 10 words...

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Shane Ross (IND) officially eliminated in Dublin Rathdown. And transfers from his votes took Catherine Martin (GP) over the line (i.e. over the quota).

I’m afraid that I can’t get my head round Irish PR, but what if SF had put up a bigger/ complete slate ?

Dublin Mid West has once again said "Fuck you!" to Paul Gogarty. That must have been a sweet surprise to him.

I’m afraid that I can’t get my head round Irish PR, but what if SF had put up a bigger/ complete slate ? I think we'll need to see the full result before we can determine quite how well SF could've done with more candidates, but there are places where they would've been in contention for an additional seat with an extra candidate (e.g. Louth, Dublin NW, Waterford). Whether these potential extra seats will be the difference between them being the largest party or not, or being in government or not is to be seen.

Kildare North: No return to the Dail for Emmett Stagg (he only polled 2,751 1st preference votes), who was a Labour TD for Kildare/Kildare North from 1987 to 2016.

Wicklow: William King received only 20 1st preference votes, the lowest so far in this Dail election (Sean O'Leary, who stood in many Dail constituencies, does not count!)

Another one where you'd have to assume that two Sinn Féin candidates would both have been elected, but they only had one.
