The "Dorsetforyou" website doesn't have the results for when every single District Council (except Weymouth & Portland which is in thirds) was elected in 2015. So you can't even find out the election results for currently sitting councillors! Unless the results have been stored on Wikipedia/elsewhere - but I've spotted at least one mistake for West Dorset, 2015 (in one Bridport ward, the same name has been given to two of the Lib Dem candidates), so there could well be others.
Presumably it's because the councils switched from individual websites to the current combined one at some point after the 2015 locals, but I don't think it makes it any less shoddy.

Westminster's website still includes results from 2006, but they don't appear to be indexed or linked to - you can only get them by google search. The historic election results displayed only go back to 2011.

modgoveng.conwy.gov.uk/mgManageElectionResults.aspx?bcr=1The page doesn't seem to be too well organised, but the results for the 2008 Local Elections are the earliest available. Conwy used to be pretty decent at archiving by-election results too, but recently they've been slacking off somewhat.

hullenedge 's maps are causing me no end of joy and a lot of geekbumps. I'm sure others feel the same way. As more and more pre-1973 local election results and maps become available through digitization or otherwise, it becomes increasingly tempting to suggest expanding the Historical Election results board in one way or another to store them all in an organised fashion, even if all we are able to do is cite sources - taking into account possible copyright issues. On the other hand, everyone who wants to know more ought to be able to find out what they want without too much difficulty. The aim should be to make these historical results more accessible with minimum possible constraints. I realise it would be a potentially huge undertaking (possibly even requiring a whole new forum entirely, though maybe associated with this one, to be created) - albeit a very exciting one. I also know this is a project the Elections Centre website is also beginning to take up. The aim would be to compliment their efforts rather than act as some sort of rival. It would be good to know anyone else's thoughts on this.

Doncaster Council's website contains election results going back to 2009 and includes GEs, referendums, borough council, parish/town councils, mayoral elections, PCCs, EU Parliament and neighbourhood plans: www.doncaster.gov.uk/services/the-council-democracy/election-results-for-doncasterThe reason it doesn't go back further is the website was completely revamped around 2009 and I guess no one thought to put historic results on the site. But I'm very satisfied with the layout at least! Perhaps at the bottom where it says "Did you find this page useful" you could click on No, then Yes, then state you were hoping to find results from before 1973 and for the old South Yorkshire County Council from 1974-1986. It would be interesting to see if and how they respond. Their web and digital assistant responded to say the council will consider my request to add more election results to the site.

I've done the same for my local council. Perhaps everyone on this forum could try their luck with it.

I also know this is a project the Elections Centre website is also beginning to take up. The aim would be to compliment their efforts rather than act as some sort of rival. It would be good to know anyone else's thoughts on this. A while back I started playing around with ways to digitise election results online in a useful format (using a content management system called Drupal, which allows you to do almost anything with very little need to write code). If I ever got the project into a usable state, it would automatically calculate all the relevant stats from the raw data, give summary stats of elections in a given area (whether that be a council area, a constituency, a county, a region, a nation, or the whole UK), allow exporting of results into several formats (e.g. or csv for spreadsheets, wiki markup for those wanting to put results on wikipeda), and display things prettily. It would almost certainly be possible to automatically generate maps of the results from a base-map (though that would require a lot more coding than I am used to in order to make it happen). Sadly there are a number of other things which take precedence over my free time, making this a project that is very much on the back-burner.
