Sorry to inform you that your proposals have just been voted down by the DUP. Why? I made 6 of Norn Iron's local authorities constituencies all to themselves. Yes, but most of the current local authorities in the Six Counties are a nonsense. Oh, and it's "Bri dgend", "Torf aen" and "Middlesbrough" (no second 'O').

Oh, and it's "Bri dgend", "Torf aen" and "Middlesbrough" (no second 'O'). Part of the problem is that Boundary Assistant doesn't mark county boundaries. Given Northern Ireland's peculiarity, I would easily be willing to consider using traditional counties instead of local authorities (both might be good guides, for differing reasons), but eh, tough luck. But really, I shouldn't complain too much. Boundary Assistant is a wonderful tool and nothing can change that.

I try to use an approximation of the historic counties as sub-regions where possible. That would be a massive addition to Kevin's workload on top of what he already does at Boundary Assistant, though. Not only do the present administrative counties sometimes fail to match up with traditional ones, in some cases even ward boundaries cross the borders that still exist in the hearts and minds of every true Englishman.

Obviously your obsession with traditional counties is ridiculous, but I think you may also have forgotten which side of the Irish Sea the counties in question are on.

Regarding London: Barnet (208613) is perfect for 2 Westminster (111349) is perfect for 1 Hammersmith and Fulham (105431) is perfect for 1 Ealing (208976) is perfect for 2
If one wants to avoid crossing the River Thames (something more important that keeping local authorities whole), Twickenham has to be paired with parts of Hounslow. And since Twickenham+Hounslow is 237757, Hillingon (183803) needs to added, and that area combined can have 4 seats. 421560 is Twickenham+Hounslow+Hillingdon combined.
All this means K&C (76454) might have to be paired with parts of Brent (182183). And then, in turn, Brent is paired with Harrow (161123). Together they are 419760.

In light of this, why was not Twickenham MB paired with the other boroughs that formed Hounslow back when Greater London was formed? Twickenham was in Middlesex, unlike Richmond which was in Surrey. Richmond-upon-Thames and Barnes could have joined up with Kingston-upon-Thames and Surbiton.

Realistically you need Carnforth to go into a Cumbrian seat because the county's too small for four seats otherwise.

South Wirral & Frodsham thanks... 😉 "Accrington and Penwortham (109228)" No, andrewteale. Please, no. I must admit, I wasn't being entirely serious when I put that together. There's even a homage to the zombie review in there - a Mersey Banks seat with unbelievable boundaries.

(Though some form of Mersey Banks is inevitable here - unless you want to pair parts of Wirral with Liverpool itself) greenhert didn't some recent review have a Twickenham and Richmond Park seat that likely would force Sir Vince Cable and Zac Goldsmith to run against each other?

I wouldn't come across as obsessed if more people would just see sense and agree with me. That said, I think you're right that tiberius was only referring to the Six Counties of Northern Ireland here. Even those would be difficult to work around in the Belfast area. Then of course there's the problem that Fermanagh is far too small to be a constituency in its own right...

It's ok in parts - the Ealing/HIllingdon/Houinslow arrangement works well for example and most of South London holds together pretty well. I'd definitly go for an East/West split in Barnet (ie more or less keep the old Hendon MB together) as the lines of communication tend to be North to South. For the same reason the Brent/Harrow cross borough seat would be better including Stanmore than Central and South Harrow. I think your decision to keep boroughs together, while born of good intention, has some unhappy consequences. Hainault and (especially) Aldborough don't fit well with Romford and it would make more sense to either add Chadwell Heath or to add Harold Wood and cross the boundary between Hornchurch and Dagenham. Kepping B&D together prevents this. And keeping Westminster and Hammersmith & Fulham whole means you;re forced to add some Southern wards from Brent to Kensington & Chelsea which is a really awkward looking seat. Since Ealing is fine as is I'd probably keep H&F together and then augment K&C with some Westminster wards which would be compenasated for by adding the city and the Holborn area
