Well... there are one or two things going on in his life at the moment. For most politicians being stopped twice by police for driving without a licence would be the most notable but not here. He blames the left but I suspect that his rivals in the Republican primary may not be ignorant of all the stories, shall we say.
I really don't care at all but feel we should all avoid the potential for libel. There is no way any of us can 'know' any of this to be true and so should confine ourselves to direct quotes of previously published material. I would certainly agree with that, but he's not actually denying any of it, just saying that things are being 'misinterpreted'...

Controversial Congressman Madison Cawthorn who has been detained for trying to take a loaded gun through an airport, been accused of insider trading, been videoed coming onto his male aide, been pictured in female underwear, has a history of making deeply homophobic comments and has accused the Republicans in Congress of engaging in cocaine fuelled orgies, has now been videoed naked and in bed with his male cousin and making some sexually suggestive moves with his penis towards his cousin's face. The primary is on the 17th May, my birthday, and hopefully the beginning of the end of this mad career in politics. Those are not quotes from a published source nor lifted from a published speech. You are asserting them to be true. I do hope you 'know' and are indisputably certain of those 'facts' .......... ? Here's an article listing several of the scandals, all of which have irrefutable evidence like videos and photographs should wish to look for them. Here is the video, should be so inclined and here is his statement that it was "lockerroom banter". A link to a story about him getting frisky with his male aide, with an irrefutable picture, is also provided. www.npr.org/2022/05/02/1095770735/madison-cawthorn-allegationswww.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/video-2678485/Video-GOP-congressman-Madison-Cawthorn-seen-nude-thrusting-video.htmlwww.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10764209/GOP-Rep-Madison-Cawthorn-caught-video-male-staff-members-hand-crotch.html

David, I have zero interest in this other than avoiding potential libel for our site. Quoting published matter is quite different to personal opinion and assertion.

The so called 'facts' as you see them do not matter. This is a minor matter in the USA and not worth taking a risk with the most litigious class of person in the most litigious nation on earth!

You are in the US elections thread Carlton and this is in relation to a US election. There was no risk of libel at all, you are overreacting again.

If you are that concerned you can report the posts and let the admins decide if anything needs to be done.

This guy is so entertaining that it would almost be a shame if he lost the Primary.

Mixed fortunes for Trump endorsed candidates in last night’s Primaries. In West Virginia’s member-on-member match-up in the 2CD caused by the State losing a District in reapportionment, Trump endorsed Alex Mooney (until recently a member of the Maryland legislature) defeated David McKinley, who had the backing of Governor Jim Justice and Joe Manchin. McKinley’s sin was voting in favour of an independent commission to investigate the events of 6 January 2021. Rooney has prevailed 54.2-34.6.
However in Nebraska’s gubernatorial race Trump backed Charles Herbster, who’s facing a slew of sexual assault allegations, was defeated 33.8-30.2 by Jim Pillen who had the backing of term limited Governor Pete Ricketts and Senator Ben Sasse.
On the Democratic side, State Senator Tony Vargas won the primary in the still swingy 2CD, held by Republican Don Bacon, but carried by Joe Biden in 2020.

Given Mooney has been a WV congressman for several years at this point.. I think the carpetbagger accusation as a attack is starting to lose it luster. Interestingly, he used his post victory speech to declare he may be running against Manchin in 2024.

The result would probably indicate you’re right about Mooney, but it was a major attack line against him from McKinley and his supporters - I think WV is one of those places that you’ve got to have lived there for like 50 years before you’re a true West Virginian. He not only hinted at a run against Manchin, not the biggest surprise in the world, but also looked at a career in the House, with some unsubtle criticism of McCarthy and his allies, that some are interpreting as groundwork for a potential challenge for the caucus leadership.

He should do all the States *
* I say this without knowing what his actual boundaries are like, but the principle is important.
