Jake Garn - a Senator from Utah - also went up in Discovery in 1985. But, like Bill Nelson, only as a Payload Specialist and not a qualified astronaut. He also suffered so badly from space sickness that it’s now unofficially measured in Garns, with 1 Garn being the most serious.

In NY-22 it looks like Brindisi is up by 13 votes but potentially with a couple of thousand disputed ballots still to be counted. A state court has issued an injunction to delay certification while the disputed ballots fiasco us resolved. The next court hearing is Monday. However with more ballots likely to be counted Brindisi is probably now favoured. Over the weekend Herkimer County updated their figures in a message to the court with a net gain of 25 votes for Tenney. Madison County also claim to have updated numbers although we don't know what they are yet. Justice DelConte has hit the roof and demanded that all 8 counties once again provide final (his underlining) vote tallies, excluding the non-counted disputed ballots, and provide him with all tally sheets and other information used during the count. The Brindisi and Tenney campaigns have the rest of this week to file motions and counter motions with regarded to the disputed ballots and other problems. Oral arguments have been scheduled for next Monday, in the meantime the injunction preventing certification remains in place.

This obscure ballot measure seems to have gone unnoticed by this forum - The electors of Rhode Island have voted to rename the state from the "State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations" to the "State of Rhode Island" thereby omitting reference to plantations. I had no idea the official name of the state was anything other than "Rhode Island", this must be the only instance of a state changing its name in modern history? www.ri.gov/election/results/2020/general_election/

Mississippi also voted on a replacement for its state flag. The flag is being changed, the referendum was on which new flag design is to be adopted.

Mississippi also voted on a replacement for its state flag. The flag is being changed, the referendum was on which new flag design is to be adopted. They've decided to re-decorate in Magnolia. The voters didn't actually have a choice, the state commission had already decided on which design they wanted, the vote was to approve it.
If people are interested in the nine that the commission shortlisted before making their final choice, here they are.

All 8 counties provided numbers as requested by Justice DelConte with Tenney maintaining a 12 vote lead. However Chenango County have today informed the court that 55 early voting ballots that were never counted have just been discovered. 44 have been deemed countable and they are awaiting guidance from Justice DelConte on whether or not to count them.

Goodness me, why not just count them and produce a report for the court on the result and the circumstances in which they were found? I can see why the judge is getting a little annoyed.

Sometimes I wish we counted our elections the same way most of the rest of the world does, by polling district rather than just constituency.
Then an American election happens and I change my mind

This is what their lawyer told them to do. Justice DelConte has decided that he will review these ballots as part of the 3,000+ disputed ballots that he will be reviewing.

Then an American election happens and I change my mind Publishing results by polling district wouldn't require us to do what the Americans do. We could do everything up to and including verification identical to how we do it right now. We could even choose only to release the polling district breakdown after each constituency/ward/division result has been announced.

Everything is counted in one location but results are available Booth wise.

It was also done for the ill-fated 2007 Holyrood elections. Unfortunately the establishment parties (all 4 of them) acquiesced in the buggering about of the ballot forms with the intention to scupper the "2nd vote Green" campaign which had seen some success in 2003.

Are we going to get much polling for these Georgia senate races? The election polls didn't cover themselves in glory, but the Georgia ones were pretty decent overall.
That's all we've had is: InsiderAdvantage (538 B-) on November 16. Senate Election Ossoff - 49% Perdue - 49% Special Senate Election Warnock - 49% Loeffler - 48% Their pre-election polls weren't bad. They had Trump 48 - Biden 46 on October 31st so they were out by 2 points to Trump. They didn't poll the senate races.
And Remington (538 C-) on November 10. Senate Election Perdue - 50% Ossoff - 46% Special Senate Election Warnock - 49% Loeffler - 48% They haven't polled Georgia this year so there's nothing to compare it to.
There's also a junk poll for a GOP PAC which has Loeffler +4.
