Yeah, great result for Labour in... Liverpool. what's wrong with Liverpool? Given the abuse I've received on Twitter today, I'm going to say "Scousers". But anyway, that's not the point I was making. Someone claiming a "great result" to a foregone conclusion is a bit silly.

Yeah, great result for Labour in... Liverpool. We only needed a 37.9% swing to win it, which would be enough to wipe Labour out of the House of Commons completely.

Funnily enough I passed through Huyton today (on a Pendolino, which is unusual). It didn't really look as though it should be that safe for Labour. (Not actually through the ward, but not far to the south.)

When a poster is switched into that mode, they are supposed to insist that the concept of "swing" is only valid between Labour and Conservative. Despite references to swing to other parties being an election night broadcast thing since at least Feb 1974.
