DRAMA! It looked as if Bennett might have just squeaked back in by the absolute narrowest of all possible margins due to the soldiers vote (counted later, along with the prisoners vote; the latter has confirmed that UAL-Balad made it back), and then it didn't. And he's threatening to sue!

Just been crunching the numbers. Meretz did not get the seat so much because of votes they got from soldiers, it was more because of the votes Labour got from soldiers. That together with the surplus votes agreement between Meretz and Labour is what got Meretz over the line.
If Labour and Meretz between them lose just 149 votes, the last seat will go to Likud instead of Meretz. UTJ are in with a shout too if the numbers change by not very much.

Let us not let the facts get in the way of an amusing story.

True! The results website is still contradictory: it shows Bennett with the correct amount of votes, but makes out as if he has got over the threshold. votes21.bechirot.gov.il/

Final results: Likud - 36, 26.45% B&W - 35, 26.11% Shas - 8, 5.99% UTJ - 7, 5.77% Hadash-Ta'al - 6, 4.49% Labour - 6, 4.44% United Right - 5, 4.02% Yisrael Beiteinu - 5, 3.7% Kulanu - 4, 3.63% Meretz - 4, 3.54% Ra'am-Balad - 4, 3.34%
New Right were stuck 0.03% below the threshold. They and UTJ are demanding appeals/recounts.

IsrarI needs to abolish this archaic colonial era voting and allocation system🙄

The final count does give United Torah Judaism an extra seat as Likud fall by one to tie with Blue and White. Meanwhile, New Right's claims that there were "irregularities" have been proven false. The only "irregularity" that was found is that New Right were erroneously awarded three extra votes, therefore Bennett and Shaked are out.

IsrarI needs to abolish this archaic colonial era voting and allocation system🙄 It was well intentioned. But it's meant that small and often quite extreme parties are often required to form a workable coalition.

That term also covers East Jerusalem, Gaza and the Golan Heights.

The territories are occupied by the settlements. Unless you are now backing the settlement policy which given your fawning and uncritical approach to the Israeli state would come as no surprise

There are still Arab towns and villages, as well as vast swathes of desert. ”fawning and uncritical approach to the Israeli state” I am a supporter of Israel as an idea and to a certain extent how it is constituted but by no means its government. But you already knew that..

Ok, perhaps I was a bit harsh, but clearly I'm far more critical than you.

Still, at least some people in the Palestinian territories get to exercise their democratic rights.
