There may be another election on 17th June and SYRIZA would obviously have a good chance of coming first and getting the 50 bonus seats since they were only 2% behind yesterday. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17984805

Actually on this one the electorate reaps what it sows. It voted for de facto default. I think the Greek people have been let down by their politicians over the last couple of decades. Nearly all parties have borrowed to the hilt and hit the money orchards hard, now as you say they have voted for a default. There is probably no way back from a default now, now matter how much Mutti puts the pressure on. I only hope it works, because Golden Dawn are playing straight out of the playbook written in Landshut in 1924 right down to the sub-Riefenstahl choreography last night. I'd rather not find out what the Greek is for Triumph des Willens.

Could we give them back to Turkey. It is not a member of the EU so they would no longer be an EU problem. ;D ;D ;D

One of Golden Dawn's policies is to plant landmines along the border with Turkey to deter illegal immigrants. Seems a bit odd since the Turkish economy is doing rather better than the Greek one at the moment.

Not heading for Greece. Can they get me with a common European arrest warrant?

How long before we see a second election this year?

How long before we see a second election this year? Wouldn't a second election mainly see the traditional major parties punished a bit more and the fringe whackjobs get a few more seats and start the whole insane circus again. Isn't it simply now a virtual inevitability that Greece will exit the Eurozone with all the concomitant effects that will have particularly to the hyper exposed European banks.

The problem at the moment is that although there are 151 MPs for default there is non mandate for a government. And even if default has occurred the remaining issues leave both left short of a majority and right unable to form one without the nazis. A 2nd election would probably change the 50 seat bonus to Syriza. That would mean that the left and pro default parties had a majority that would begin to clear up the mess, Even though I might suspect the Nazis to grow,

Don't think that even if SYRIZA are the largest party after new elections they'll be able to form a government. The noises coming from the KKE suggest that they are not willing to serve in a government with SYRIZA. Ultra-left third period Stalinism seems the order of the day in the KKE. It would need a big increase for SYRIZA and DIMAR at the expense of the KKE (and Pasok to some extent) for a left wing government to be formed.

To be blunt it is hard to see how Greece can be governed.

haven't PASOK already said no ? I think they get a formal offer at this point and get to formally say no.
