For the second time this month we have a biggish local polling day -twelve elections compared with the fourteen on the 7th September , but still substantial. I tried to provide basic data for the 7th, but it was a bit of a rush, I had a crisis of my own, and some mistakes crept in, so this time I will try and start early, even before we get to the elections on the 21st,and give myself time to do the job properly , or at least a bit more properly than would otherwise be the case. I could of course hold back and not post the information I've put together until nearer the time and then post them all together, but I guess once I've done one ward or maybe a couple, I might as well post them here and give people more time to spot the errors. Embellishments and corrections will be actively sought, please.

St Edmundsbury Borough Council- Chedburgh Ward Conservative died, 3 candidates: Ian Robert Chapman (LD) Mike Chester (Con) Gary Patrick Dillon (Lab)
3 candidates this time but in this rural ward in deepest Suffolk , south west of Bury St Edmunds and just south of Ickworth House, and comprised of a handful of small villages, which has never had a contested election in the ward since first up in 2003 - before this time it has been Conservative unopposed. Before 2003 a ward broadly similar was called Chevington, but the name changed to Chedbergh and one extra village was added at the eastern end of the ward.
St Edmundsbury Borough Council- Hundon Ward Conservative resigned 2 candidates: Mary Evans (Con) Alex Rolph (Lib Dem) Another rural ward a bit further south than Chedburgh, but here they may also find a contested by election a bit of a novelty. I have checked back this ward which is basically unchanged since 1973, and in that time there have only been 5 contested elections in the ward in those 44 years and I make it 5 times the Conservative has been unopposed. The contests we have had 1973:Con 413, Ind 112 1976:Con 311, Ind 222/58 1995:Con 454, Lab 427 1999 Con 473, Lab 192, 2015: Con 752, UKIP 435

Durham UA , Trindon and Thornley division Labour died 5 candidates: Alan Bell (Lib Dem) Maurice Brown (Ind) Jonathan Elmer (Green) Jude Grant (Lab) Michael Drummond Moverley Smith ( Con)
Note: Durham became a Unitary Authority in 2009, and this 3-member division has only been contested in this form since 2013. However it was formed by combining the two separate two-member county council divisions of Trindon and Thornley, so I have included the last results contested on that basis in 2008.

The Kingstone ward was created by the local council in 2006 from the old Park ward & parts of the Southwest ward. The park ward was solid Labour but the southwest ward was often won by the opposition .

I wonder if Green but no LD is a sign of a continuing pact in this area? No idea, but maybe there were negotiations between the two camps and the Greens lost Would be a hard one for either party, I would guess, unlike Lancaster which looks like it ought to be a nailed-on Green gain if there ever is such a thing.

From what (or from whom) does Stretton allegedly need saving? From an housing project rejected by the Inspectorate in November 2016.
