I chose 'Yes for Britain'. Those who voted Leave who won't vote Labour may vote for the 'Yes to Britain' candidate and endorse his 'No to Terrorism' line in light of what happened.
All this without realising Jack Buckby's real background or ideology.

This is fasinating because no-one's got a bloody clue.
I voted 'Yes for Britain' as I imagine Buckby to be the most organised of the far-right groups standing.
The English Democrats have performed poorly for ages.
Waqas Ali Khan may possibly pick up some of the Muslim and UKIP vote. He seems hopeless, however.

In the winning of the prestigious second place a lot will depend on which candidates make fools of themselves during the high level of scrutiny they will receive from the media.
Of course if the media is seen to pick on any of them that might help them, if they react badly to questioning that will damage them.Like snakes and ladders. It should really be the English Democrats but they have been going backwards for some time. There is all to play for...

I hope Garry Kitchin will come second, since he is by far the most sensible of the non-Labour candidates and he is the only one who lives in the constituency.

No candidate for second place has anything to lose. while the latter is certainly true, the opportunity to make a total dick of yourself on national television will quite probably be taken by someone. |

Stupid description. I would have thought he would come second but not sure now. I thought the whole point of the exercise was to raise the profile of Liberty GB. If they don't even use the name then what's the point? It's like that idiotic description UKIP used in the GLA elections one time

I was at the Haltemprice & Howden count when the EDs forced a recount for second place (they were just behind the Greens).
But the Yorkshire EDs are a lot less organised than they were back in 2008. IIRC their regional organiser (and Haltemprice by-election agent) was one of those who quit because he didn't like the influx of ex-BNP activists. Then the party got the worst of both worlds because most of those ex-BNPers, including some highly competent Yorkshire folk such as Chris Beverley, gave up.

I started off thinking that I would (hypothetically, if I lived in Batley) probably not vote, but now I reckon I would want to vote for one of the more mainstream candidates (Kitchin, probably) in order to minimise the percentage vote for the far-right candidates. |

If a normal contest would have been held, non-Labour parties wouldn't have tried too hard, ensuring Labour wins comfortably with a full mandate that comes from winning a contested election. The vacuum left by leaving the voters no option to Labour was always going to be used by extreme elements. |
