As the son of a former member the drinking of a yard of wine seems to have been dropped (my dad would have probably taken his home brew), and I’m pretty sure they only had roast beef and not venison. How standards slip!

Those weird shaped speech bubbles hung around for a long time, they were still drawn like that in the 20th century for quite a while. I wonder why it took so long for "neat" speech bubbles to take off.

Maybe a little incident in 1834.... But! Even trivia-er! That's a Look'n'Learn image! Somewhere I've still got my collection.

The 2017-2019 Parliament is the first ever Parliament in which all Parliamentary by-elections were won by women. The most recent Parliament in which all by-elections were won by men was the 1974-1974 Parliament. In the 1974-1979 parliament there were 30 by-elections, but only 1 of them was won by a woman (Oona MacDoland, Thurrock, 1976).

From Leonard Sachs imdb:-
He and his wife (Eleanor Summerfield) were poles apart in their political support, so they agreed to differ. As a result, each election the windows on the left side of their home in west London, England were adorned with "Vote Labour" posters and the right hand side with "Vote Conservative".

Paul McCartney has the same first name as four Labour leaders, because he’s called James really you see and so were James Keir Hardie, James Ramsay MacDonald, James Harold Wilson and James Gordon Brown. But not James Callaghan because his first name was really Leonard..

Rescued from the loft earlier today:- Oooh. *drools* I didn't know this game existed, but there's a boardgame geek page for it. Turns out it's a 1972 vintage.

Rescued from the loft earlier today:- (snip) As a young child I remember my parents (neither of who played board games) having this, it had disappeared from the house by the mid 80s when I was getting into games and I never came across any mention of it through the years.
I had half believed I was imagining the whole recollection! Are the playing pieces solid coloured plastic 'candidates' standing behind a vote for me board?
Edit- Just seen greenchristian 's link, They are! Can't believe I remember something so vividly from so long ago...

Two (out of six) little men:- The formula used for allotting seats:- It was a Christmas present (mid-70s). Bought from a Board Game shop in Huddersfield.
