An unusual result, does anyone know the background?
On the subject of neighbourhood plans, Bere Regis in Dorset will hold a vote on May 2nd. I'm sure there will be others that day.

The local Labour Party campaigned against it because there were "too many open-ended issues" with the plan and wanted to see it rewritten as they didn't believe residents had enough input - www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-47585233

Strange question? Was this the confirmatory referendum for the NP or an old-fashioned Parish Poll?
And why did the BBC call it the "so-called" neighbourhood plan?

There are sixteen seats in total. I go through Wareham station by train quite regularly, and whenever I'm with someone else, I always note that it's what you should do with clothes (wear 'em). It doesn't matter who I'm travelling with, they never stop not finding it funny.

There are sixteen seats in total. Wah! Why do people insist on continuing these huge at-large divisions? At the Scarborough count I left just after they started the Filey Town Council count, 18 candidates for 12 seats, and they'd given up and restarted twice before I left, having got into a muddle. 4 seats of 3, or 3 seats of 4 would be perfectly reasonable.
A couple of days later I went through the polling history, and it seems that Filey Town Council has been 12-seat at-large ever since its creation in the 1890s.

The Kangaroo system developed (I understood) by Scarborough Council is by far the best way of counting multi-member seats.

The Kangaroo system developed (I understood) by Scarborough Council is by far the best way of counting multi-member seats. It was impressive watching them do it, certainly better than Sheffield's all-ups in 2016 where I saw one counter doing: That's a vote for candidate number 2, so two ticks next to candidate number 1. That's a vote for candidate number 4, for four ticks next to candidate number 1. .... !
As mentioned upthread, it was an initial struggle with Filey's 18 candidates/12 seats count, but you can't blame the counting system for that.

'Kangaroo' named after the pouches they use. Scarborough have exported the system to more than 40 other authorities, earning money producing the hardware and providing the training. I'm told it's comparable to "re-usable grass skirts".

Yes, Kangaroo is based on the same idea as grass skirts but much neater and more efficient. It makes recounts so much easier. And it means agents can follow what is going on (as long as they are allowed anywhere near).
