STATEMENT AS TO PERSONS NOMINATED
ALLEN David Stewart English Democrats - “More Police - catching criminals!” BILLINGS Alan Roy Labour Party FELTON Gavin Patrick UK Independence Party (UKIP) OTTEN Joe Liberal Democrats WALKER Ian Geoffrey The Conservative Party Candidate
Alan Billings has lost the trigger ballot to be automatically re-selected as Labour candidate. Labour will have a full open selection now
In that case it's very likely that there will be a new candidate. He must have been very unpopular. Jane Kennedy was always useless and most people thought so but its always been regarded as an absolute non job, and the amount of interest was negligible.

He will be 79 at the time of the election, and was thrust into the role as a 'safe pair of hands' candidate when Shaun Wright (of blessed memory) had to resign. That was only just before the reselections for 2016. So it's not necessarily a political thing or a simple left-right question.

Billings is probably one of the more popular PCCs actually, a few people voted to have a trigger ballot purely because they believe in mandatory reselection and the people most committed to that were far more likely to turn up to the meetings. I wasn't passionate enough either way to attend our selection meeting but if Billings wishes to stand again I will happily back his candidacy and I suspect most Labour members in South Yorkshire will too.
