The Conservative candidate, Sam Rowlands, is a member of the Conwy County Borough council for Pentre Mawr ward, in nearby Abergele. From what I've seen it seems that the Conservatives a really going for it, no doubt emboldened by their victory in the 2015 general. One of the main settlements, Rhyl, is currently one of the more deprived parts of the constituency and the Conservatives' victory in 2015 could be partially attributed to perceived discontentment with the town's Labour run council.
This one will be really close, I think that Labour might just pull through, but there is definitely a realistic chance of this seat going Tory. One of the more vulnerable Labour seats methinks.
