Not about the police commissioner elections, but it's the only thread dealing with Bedfordshire:
Labour shortlist for Bedford:
Neil Coyle (Southwark councillor, director of a disability charity) Nicola Day-Dempsey (candidate in Peterborough local elections 2012) Patrick Hall (former MP for the seat, 1997-2010) Karen Webb (lives in Cambridgeshire, made the Stevange shortlist)
Unless Hall has drastically fallen out with his local party, I suspect he's strongly favoured to get the nod. Coyle is the only other candidate I could find out anything much about and if his approving tweets about the Labour Uncut lot are anything to go by, I don't think he'd appeal to members.
The English Defence League are pleased to announce our Joint Leader and British Freedom Party co-Vice Chairman Kevin Carroll as PCC candidate for the Bedfordshire Police Authority. Kevin has strong views on policing and amongst other things will be campaigning for:
• An end to cuts in the police service. • Substantial improvements to pay and conditions of officers on the street, who are at the sharp end of crime and disorder in Britain. • An end to political correctness, which is forced on officers by their politicised superiors, hampering their ability to deal with serious crime. Officers tackling crime out on the street need to know that they have 100% backing of their superiors. • An end to ‘two-tier’ policing. The law should apply equally to all sections of the community. • Strong policing of anti-social behaviour that blights the lives of many families. • No more police time wasted on manning speed traps. • A crackdown on the dealing of hard drugs. • The police force once again focused on dramatically reducing serious crime — criminals and organised gangs should fear the consequences of their actions
Yes. The BFP (like the EDL) are financially backed by millionaires from foreign countries. The bulk of BFP/EDL are working class, chavs, and street hooligans but they are financed by an elite of wealthy businessmen.
