I just got an email from the Boundary Commission for England about preparations for the 2018 review. Anyone else? I got an e-mail as part of my community council roles about the consultation for local boundaries in Wales (one member for every 4,000 electors) but nothing about the Westminster boundary changes.

I vaguely recall some time ago there was some kind of consultation/evaluation/feedback type exercise following the aborted review and wonder if those who contributed to that are those who have received these emails. I am a bit put out not to have had one and I think I should like to be a niche user or at least to have been asked. Presumably they wouldn't just email any and every person who made submissions during the last review as that would include thousands of people, many of whom were just of the 'don't put Dunstable in with Luton' variety. Interested to know if others who made significant contributions to the process such as doktorb, Greatkingrat and Stepney have had this

I haven't had anything either. Presumably a conspiracy to exclude right-wing contributors (John sneaked through as he was still a Loony during the last review).

How do I get on their mailing list? They should be seeking the opinions on non-aligned types such as myself, rather than you red/blue/yellow/green etcetc lot

I have received the email from BCE and have responded that I will be more than happy to help (not only that, more than happy to be called a "niche" contributor!)

Gkr's theory seems to have some validity

So David Boothroyd and John Cartwright got their e-mails first. Now Liam Pennington has his but Pete Whitehead doesn't yet. Hmmm, I wonder what's going on there?

Damn, bang goes that theory, but that also blows a hole in gkr's one as well.

Well I am assuming they still have my email address from my 2011(?) proposal. The address hasn't changed.

I was in Carmarthen yesterday and speaking to a Lib Dem who is associated with the local regional Assembly member I got the impression that there's not going to be any radical changes to the 2013 proposals (which although I know Pete will not like these numbers because of my literal translation of the % similarities) means that the 2020 election benchmarks are likely to be: Conservatives 314, Labour 212, Scottish National Party 51, Democratic Unionists 8, Sinn Fein 5, Liberal Democrats 3, Plaid Cymru 3, SDLP 2, Greens 1, Independent 1 (Conservative majority of 28)

There won't be any 'changes to the 2013 proposals' because those proposals are dead and buried and will have no bearing on anything. The new boundaries will have to be drawn from scratch though no doubt in some areas, where the changes in electorate has not been great since then, similar proposals will be made.
