Kate Hollern steps down as council leader to concentrate on her GE campaign. She has led Labour council group since 2004 (council leader between 2004 and 2007 and then again from 2010). She is up this May as Cllr but won't restand.
Mohammed Khan takes over as interim leader until May 9th when Labour group will elect the replacement (we can assume they will retain control..they just need to win a ward next May to keep it).
Con gain Marsh House and Meadowhead from Lab Lab gain Sudell from LD
Labour group elected Mohammed Khan as new Council Leader beating Ashley Whalley and Jim Shorrock. He held the position as interim leader in the recent few weeks after Kate Hollern stood down to concentrate on her GE campaign. He's 69 year old, a Cllr since 1992. He was born in Pakistan and first came to Blackburn in 1965. He has been Deputy Leader since 2010.
