Fair enough Devonian - as it happens, RESPECT have a few issues to face up to with voting 'encouragement'. Oh it wouldn't surprise me at all. This is not a party political point for me. I've had concerns about postal voting on demand since long before I started to take a close interest in UKIP. The way it undermines the secret ballot is an open invitation to those tempted to commit various kinds of electoral fraud and even without direct fraud is deeply problematic for reasons already discussed.

Interesting how the final sentence almost but doesn't quite match up to the rest of the article.

I'm not an apologist for the BNP (in fact, I have a lot of problems with them), but I sincerely doubt that they'd heckle anyone with "you're just nazi racist scum"... EDIT: That's not to suggest they're the ones being blamed.

Interesting how the final sentence almost but doesn't quite match up to the rest of the article. How does it not match up? In the article criminal damage is alleged. The final sentence says the police confirm they're investigating allegations of criminal damage. Where's the mismatch?

EDIT: That's not to suggest they're the ones being blamed. I would agree with that. I did see on twitter somewhere the BNP being blamed for the stink bombs but I suspect the people bellowing 'nazi racist' at people are more likely to belong to another party.

The final sentence says the police confirm they're investigating allegations of criminal damage. Where's the mismatch? Because criminal damage was far from the only thing to be alleged. Confirmation is provided for only part of the story. I would in particular be interested to know what evidence Nigel Farage has that the theft of the generator was due to activists of other parties and whether he's passed such evidence on to the police.

Chris Bryant and Nigel Farage have been arguing on twitter Can't stand either of them, but on this one I think Bryant makes a fair point. A generator is stolen - Farage blames political opponents. Why? Graffiti on shop shutters - Farage blames p.o.s Why?

As for the generator I've no idea.

Elaborating on his cautious estimate, Farage explained: “Our problem is that a lot of people in Sale, who live in detached houses, are public-sector employees. They work for quangos, local government, you know that sort of upper middle-class group”. Bizarre. Percentage of households living in detached houses in Sale Easr according to the 2011 census: 11.81%

Plenty of people dislike UKIP without having any formal affiliation to a political party. Yes indeed. The graffiti was obviously put there by someone strongly politically opposed to UKIP but that does not mean that this individual was a member of any other party, which is why presumably no one is claiming to know this about the culprit. Although Farage attributes a number of things to 'activists' and 'opponents' the graffiti he doesn't actually attribute to anyone.

That is an excellent write up Andrew. When the GMC was created in 1974 it shared ownership of the airport 50/50 with the City Council. Then when the GMC was abolished its 50% was split 10 ways so the City owned 55% of the airport and the other boroughs 5% each. I see these two shares have been reduced and now a investors have an equal shareholding to the City Council.
