Tory vote up by 8.7% last time and Plaid vote down by 10.2% so a very strong Tory performance.
Same thing as going on in Pembrokeshire maybe?
I think we should defer to our welsh correspondents in this matter, but I wouldn't think so. The position of Plaid in these constituencies is completely different, for instance. Preseli Pembrokeshire is a Tory/Lab marginal with Plaid dropping back into single figures last time, having only just managed to get into double figures. Carmarthen is a Plaid stronghold with Labour not out of contention, and the Tories threatening (on the last result) to make it a three way marginal. I would guess, at least in part, it is to do with the general resilience / recent re- growth of Welsh conservatism helped presumably (?) by their relatively high profile in the Welsh assembly - in contrast say to the Scottish parliament. I was surprised to find when I looked that UKIP polled better in Carmarthen than Pembrokeshire last time, but the latter must be a reasonable prospect for an increased vote next time round?. Be interesting to see what their euro polling was here.

You think so about ap Iorwerth? I'm not sure he's got the intellectual capacity. Price looks like a winner, he's got brains and comes across as ministerial quality. A lot of the Plaid mob don't.
Wood doesn't seem to fit what I imagine to be a Plaidist to be like. Just comes across as...well, a bit like a sixth-form debater, although her expenses investigation was excellent work. Just doesn't seem to have the presence that the Dafydds or Ieuan Wyn Jones seemed to have- they were surprisingly even well-known in England (especially Wigley), she really isn't.
"People may say what they like about the decay of Christianity; the religious system that produced green Chartreuse can never really die."
I would be devastated if Leanne of the sixth form debating student genre was removed as leader.
I would like to put on record that although I may think that she's not that bright and that her vision for Wales is a complete and utter disaster for our country, she is entitled to her (flawed) opinions and I do not consider her any less Welsh than myself for holding them.
Just a pity that she and her plaid scriptwriters considers any Welsh person who disagrees with her views as UnWelsh.
Please, Please, Please do not get rid of her as plaid leader she really is the gift that keeps on giving.
There are definite similarities between Wood and Natalie Bennett, IMO.
And with Nicola Sturgeon, I think.
"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen [pounds] nineteen [shillings] and six [pence], result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."
