Why do local newspaper articles never start off an article with "father of two" if a male candidate with two kids is selected. One thing that really irks me is when an article has to make a point of someone being a mother, I guess it's to make the candidate seem relatable? I don't know. It's kind like when someone starts off an argument with "as a mother..." or "as a doctor..." Itrat Ali may be a fantastic candidate, I don't know her so have no idea, but lazy headline writing annoys me.
On another note, I have never noticed any candidate ever say I dislike the NHS, probably because it's a vote loser. I'm sure most candidates from all parties like the NHS, or even have a passion for the NHS but just have a very different vision to how the NHS should be. But from the vast majority of these local rag candidate selected article, you take out what party they are from, you would have no idea who they are standing for.... so many empty platitudes and sound bites.

I have heard Itrat Ali's campaign is putting the heat on Barry Sheerman and Labour. This is probably down to the fact she has years of experience working in Britain's most loved public service the NHS?! She clearly understands the issues we face on a day to day basis and she has got my vote. For the first time in my life I am voting Tory because she is the only candidate who can stop Labour from ruining our area.
