In the case of Respect George Galloway actually is the leader now. In the case of the Greens Natalie Bennett is treated by the press and the public (those that follow politics enough to give the matter any thought) as the leader. Bennett does far more media appearances and interview than Lucas (Lucas gave up the leadership in large part because she didn't have time to combine all leadership and media work with concentrating on being a constituency MP). If the public see someone from the Greens on TV or in other media today it will probably be Bennett not Lucas.
The public are not 'those that follow politics enough to give the matter any thought'. I checked with my partner (reasonably well-informed about politics, used to be a Green voter before she started going out with me and puts up with talking with me about politics a lot more than I could reasonably expect her to) and she couldn't name Natalie Bennett. The guess was 'Nicole somebody'. Caroline Lucas remains much better known, despite the best efforts of the Greens to raise Bennett's profile.
