Britain Elects has tweeted the latest poll Lab 39 -1 Con 37 -1 Lib Dems 9 - Green 4 +1 UKIP 4 - Fieldwork 24th-28th November Time to chill the champagne maybe, or the Ginger Beer Lib dems (-1) ? No, the dash indicates no change, maybe I should have put an equals sign after it.

Apparently this poll has the Tories ahead by 42% to 40% on the "all giving voting intention" question, which is interesting because that question always used to give better numbers for Labour in the past, whereas the "certain to vote" question used to benefit the Tories.

Depends on if they ask their respondents their liklihood to vote or if they adjust their sample to reflect turnout at the last election

Steady on, I think we need at least another two or three of these before we start opening the discount prosecco.

Its entirely possible for them to retain control of the six councils they hold and gain Kingston and Richmond.

I think its the St Albans North Hertfordshire County council seat which is up on the same day as the district due to the resignation of the Lib Dem councillor after less than the year in the job. Labour lost this to the LDs last time by a mere 71 votes and my gut says Labour will probably get it back, not least because voters will likely be annoyed that their young LD councillor gave up so quickly after getting the job. Plus Labour are running the defeated candidate from last year, the popular district councillor for Batchwood (about half of St Albans North) Roma Mills (who incidentally I think is also @priceofdawn 's mum). The national situation is also far better for Labour than it was this time last year whilst the Lib Dems are stuck approximately where they were. The Tories should also theoretically be competitive here and are running a district councillor from Marshalswick South (the other half of St Albans North) but in practice have a habit of underperforming here and so I would be pretty surprised if they won.

Im not sure they noticed. But there are a few voters upset about cuts and theres been a bit of a squeeze.

I doubt most did of their own accord but surely Labour would have been pushing it as a line of attack? The Lib Dems certainly would if it was the other way round.

The 'Labour stands up when Lib Dem steps down' on MS leaflets was my suggestion.
