Think I'm going to have to take up Finnish citizenship. This country is fucked. Turns out that the Remain campaign were right all along- we aren't fit as a nation to govern ourselves

Sometimes of course......They are worse! Remember always the notable words of Arthur Balfour "Nothing matters very much....................................And most things don't matter at all."

I'm still highly doubtful that Labour will even come close to winning.
But in the unlikely event it does happen, the British people deserve everything they get for being pillocks.

I agree with all of that including the first part. Even so win or not, if Labour poll in the mid to high thirties under this leadership it is still s terrible indictment of the British people or st least a horrifyingly large section of them. Of course a significant proportion of the electorate are not 'British people' in any meaningful sense and that portion do skew things - this would be especially true of the younger cohort of voters of course. Even so the kind of polling figures we are seeing now suggest a good third of those who are if you like 'true british' are prepared to vote for this profoundly anti British outfit. In any case the British people have been acquiescing in their own replacement for seventy years now and are still doing so really

We get it, you wish this was 1977 South Africa, but it does not change the fact that this was an unneccessary election caused by an arrogant Prime Minister who was suckered by untested polls into beleiving she could get a huge landslide by doing Sweet FA and supported by a party that has embarked on one of the worst campaigns in decades by taking the public for fools. The Tories will probably get that increased majority they were looking for, but that they and the wider right including you have the shits right now is due to unforced errors caused by said complacency and is frankly the least you deserve.

Most amusing to see all those who insisted most strongly on the need to respect the sacred will of the British people over Brexit now condemning said people as a bunch of morons who deserve all they get, and proposing to emigrate to an EU country to get away from it all.
Only we in the LDs are able to maintain our consistent and principled position - namely the the British people are all complete bastards because not only did they not vote the way we wanted them to over Brexit, hardly any of the buggers want to vote for us in the GE. Complete and utter bastards the whole lot of them.

Complete and utter bastards the whole lot of them. I've never thought that people are anything other than morons. I've always wanted to take as much power away from all levels of government as possible, so elections can then be devoted to their real purpose- providing interesting material for psephological anoraks. None of this worrying about the consequences.

The number of morbid (and other despicable) comments on this forum was been way too high over the past few days; I can only hope this is a result of election hysteria as opposed to serious character flaws.

Maybe if Pete clarified who the 'True British' are in his eyes once and for all, we won't have such posts written in response? It's not the first time he has made such comments and frankly I am getting tired of it.

Can Whitehead delete or amend his as well then? @benjl 's post was not unprovoked. That's a matter for him (and/or the moderators if you or anyone else wishes to complain about what he said). He wasn't being personally abusive or wishing anyone dead, though, which definitely crosses a line. This assumes every British person reading here would meet Pete Whitehead 's standards for 'true British' (which is demonstrably, just by looking at the forum's membership, a false assumption) Identity politics is extremely personal. That said, @benjl 's post was on another level. Given that similar points made by two other posters earlier may now be subject to moderation, it would be for the best for the OP to see to editing his own inflammatory material before they get round to it in this case. P.S. I will edit out the section I quoted if the OP does the same.

But I will 'edit' (which you can't effectively do once you have been quoted) to avoid silly partisan drama. I've edited out my part, too; I hope @goodoldcause can do the same to make this edit effective.

To be honest, Gran only looked like Dorothy in her sternness, she was determinedly red-haired to her last day, short and often looked like she'd sucked vinegar straight from the bottle. She was as hard as nails and as loyal as they came.
