This election is being held on 19th December, using the first past the post electoral system. Park Guen-hye, of the conservative Saenuri Party, is hoping to become the country's first female president.
This looks like it's going to be a close one. The last permitted opinion polls showed that Mr Moon had eroded the small but clear lead Ms Park enjoyed for much of the campaign, leaving the result too close to call.
That link has now evolved into a news story confirming Park's victory. Votes are still been counted but Moon has conceded defeat. This is the result I wanted, although Moon did put up a good fight, so I am pleased.
