If I were a Mr or Mrs Solesbury-Timms I would definitely avoid giving my child a name beginning with an R. Why? What’s wrong with the initials RST? This is Remove Lower 5th humour for gigglers in the back rows who are 'slow' and who don't do girls. R Solesbury = R Soles = RSoles = Arseholes Geddit? They are ecstatic with mirth and glue substances now on the back row.

Shumel Rahman (Newcastle Monument) has left Labour and is supporting Yvonne Ridley against Chi Omwurah in the general election. He had been deselected from contesting the ward on May 2nd.

Anyone who supports Yvonne Ridley is hereby wished good riddance by me. I have less than no time for her.

Anyone who supports Yvonne Ridley is hereby wished good riddance by me. I have less than no time for her. Yvonne Ridley is going to be an Independent candidate. I don't know what to do , not keen about Starmer. I suppose it depends whether it helps, the choice of candidates.

I would have been incredibly surprised if you had been keen on Starmer. I have reservations myself. But I have no reservations about voting Labour.

Totally bizarre as she, like Murray here in Blackburn, lives in Scotland, is a member of Alba, who believes in independence from the constituency she wants to represent.

But then most people take voting more seriously than me and treat parties more like a government in waiting than their favourite football team

Seems somewhat notable that we haven't seen any defections or expulsions in recent months for supporting Driscoll. Makes me suspect that his claims about the support he is receiving may be somewhat inflated.

Funnily enough, he lacked any faith, but incongruously, he was a committed freemason. When required to affirm his belief in a higher power, he responded with "my wife". They let him in.

I was wrong to be dismissive: as time has gone on, sympathy and support have revealed themselves and he is receiving votes from places you would have thought most unlikely back when he announced he would stand as an independent. He'll win or narrowly lose in my opinion. Kim McGuinness is not a very good candidate and, whatever Driscoll may or may not have accomplished, she is not exactly in a place to hit hard on that. If she does win, it will be thanks to party loyalty and little more.

This translates as "he is getting lots of Tories to support him" - for totally non-cynical reasons obviously And anyway, I thought getting the support of Tories was maybe the number one sin in the online Corbynite canon?

Not that, though he will have Conservatives voting for him (and many for less cynical reasons than you might suspect): sympathy within and without the party is found beyond the 'hard left'. I am acquainted with people who voted for the Liberal Democrats in 2019 and are now voting for Driscoll.
