Not quite the same but Jimmy Reid never put CPGB as his party on election material unlike his more successful Fife colleagues

That's interesting....she's prominent and been around for a while I think. Wonder what's happened there. Now updated again to "Independent Conservative" I'm still waiting to find out the full story with this, but I believe this would be more appropriate for the "administratively suspended" thread than this one as I think she has been suspended by the group on the council (rumours are that this might be pending an investigation into behaviour). She's otherwise still very much involved in the party and attended Ron Mushiso's GLA election launch event yesterday.

George Westwater, former North Tyneside Tory group leader, is standing for Labour in his old ward, St Mary's (where the lighthouse is) in May. He was deselected, then lost seat as independent.
Tories are saying he attempted to rejoin them.

Not “GB” I mean that the Hounslow council website has changed from listing him as "Independent" to listing him as "Workers Party GB". Perhaps jasonharcourt might know more?

Perhaps jasonharcourt might know more? I have contacted Hounslow Council to check. I used the automated “contact us” form on the council website, which wasn’t very user-friendly, so it might be a while before the message gets sent to an actual human with a brain.

Considering the front page of their website uses all of the following
"Workers Party" "Workers Party GB" "Workers Party Great Britain" "Workers GB" "Workers Party of Britain" "Workers Party Britain"
I don't think we can really blame Hounslow Council for getting confused!

Oh good grief. That shows just how revisionist it has become. The main reason why the Workers Party of Britain is so named is because it was (originally) set up as a front organisation for the CPGB(ML), which would have been inspired by the name of the Workers Party of Korea, and by the usual Soviet-inspired formulation of telling fraternal parties in satellite countries to call themselves “Communist Party of (Country)”. If the WPB now uses multiple variations, then it shows that it is now a ragtag rabble of opportunist deviationists and revisionist reactionary backsliders, having jettisoned the Stalinists.

Perhaps jasonharcourt might know more? My understanding is that it is indeed Galloway's lot. His departure from Labour was Gaza-related.

While nobody has gone into detail about this to me as yet, my understanding is that this article is somewhat wide of the mark in terms of what has actually happened to lead to her suspension.

Is she ex-UKIP then?

She's been both Labour and LibDem in the past, and I when Adur councillor Paul Graysmark went UKIP some years back, I heard from both UKIP and Con that she was expected to go too, but it didn't happen then. But as a serial defector, it might just be coming this time.
