I'm not seeing any evidence Heather Rogers has actually joined the Labour Party or the Labour group. Seems to be simply voting, as an Independent councillor, in support of the administration. Depends on the interpretation of this from The Express And Star I guess: “Labour took back control of Dudley Council at a crunch meeting last night where the only remaining independent councillor joined the party.” It also says she “followed” her Ward colleague who joined Labour earlier this year.

It's a bit of a technical issue as there has been a Labour administration continually since 2015. Labour used to have a majority, then went down to exactly half of the council, but now has an overall majority again.

One of the stronger Conservative wards in the Telford constituency, though still marginal/volatile.

In the summer of 1960 I spent five or six weeks working at Butlins at Filey. Part of the time in one of the bars. Every morning we went through all the empty bottles and emptied the dregs into a bucket. The contents were then poured into a barrel of dark mild. As for any glasses left half empty on the tables...
I could never drink mild again after that.

I too served behind the bar in those days when Mild was the big seller and cheaper than Bitter but steadily ruined by the rapacity of landlords using the notorious device, the 'beer saver'! Some even put spillage on trays and dregs from cocktails in it. Did for me as well.

I'm crossposting with the forum defections thread, since she has an account here, but Aimee Challenor, former Green Party equalities spokesperson and Green Party Deputy Leader candidate (withdrawn) has announced on Facebook that she's joined the Lib Dems.

That will go down well (not) with the LibDem brotherhood... I think we can expect further "oh's!" to go with the one from yellowperil.....

I remember querying that some of the bottles we were de-dregging were Babycham. "Just empty it all into the bucket, they won't notice". We got quite a rhythm going as we went through piles of crates of empty bottles, four at a time...

Hardly anywhere cleans them properly and the publicly claimed reasons to have them ('you get better head retention', 'makes sure the flavour is consistent' etc) are all nonsense.
