In Munich's council the GREENS could become the largest party according to INSA (27%, CSU and SPD 23% each).

Munich's main issue was by far cheaper rents (especially important for women).

In Nuremberg the - rather young and suitable for leading SPD-Bavaria - SPD-incumbent retired. CSU and SPD are neck-to-neck at 35.9% vs. 35.5%. In Fürth the SPD-mayor - who replaced last time CSU - is far ahead.

In Augsburg the CSU-Woman is presently at 42% (SPD 19%, GREENS 18%). In Würzburg the CDU-inc. (he is indeed a member of the Merkel-CDU instead of the CSU) stands at 49%. In Aschaffenburg SPD should defend ist open seat.

In Amberg and Straubing - both smaller cities - CSU will stay in power.

In Landshut the incumbent of FDP (!) will face a GREEN in the RunOff - quite unique.

Funny to see it now emerge in an electoral context. Yes, i remember. Well, in Bavaria's and Hessia's recent regional elections it played a "semipublic" role: For the citizens of cities, but not for the vast majority of land/town-inhabitants.

In Miltenberg - a rural district south of Aschaffenburg (thus near Frankfort) - the GREENS-candidate won outright 2/3 of the votes. In Miesbach - a rural/suburban district south of Munich - the GREENS-inc. might struggle in the RunOff (last time the CSU-candidate lost support of his party after round 1 and as a consequence the GREENy made it) against CSU's man, whose name is: Olaf von Löwis of Menar.

It's difficult to come already to a conclusion, but it seems, that the GREENS had not the expected BreakThrough, SPD remained in play in most cities and CSU performed quite well.

Not surprised the Greens are second and I suppose the FDP is some very popular local bloke who just happens to be in the FDP.

42/64 rural districts are in (the elecion of the LandRäte, not those of the councils) and CSU has performed strongly in the more remote areas (eastern LowerBavaria and Franconia, where SPD was once competitive), while the results in UpperBavaria (so around Munich) are not overwhelming.

Not surprised the Greens are second and I suppose the FDP is some very popular local bloke who just happens to be in the FDP. Landshut had always since 1945 been CSU. But after a ByElection caused by the DeParture of the incumbent due to corruption (if i remember correctly) the FDP-man was elected by the nerved population because of being neither from the corrupt CSU nor the left parties. There are several amazing corruption-cases, by the way: In Regensburg the CSU-mayor had to step down and the SPD-one was elected triumphantly last time; only for getting accused of bribery, too, and standing down (he ran today against his SPD as an Indep., but missed with 20% the RunOff). Ingolstadt is also traditionally plagued. The very Bavarian "Spezl-Wirtschaft" ("friend-economy") ...

Apropos Bavaria - here are few historical maps: 1849 (LandTag; black line = border of the preNapoleonic duchy): 1893 (LandTag): 1912 (ReichsTag): 1928 (ReichsTag): 1932 (ReichsTag): 1949 (BundesTag):

The councils gets presently counted. So far only the CityCouncils of Amberg (UpperPalatine) and Passau (eastern LowerBavaria), 2 not so huge towns within rural&remote surroundings, are out - both with formidable gains for the GREENS (5%, 6%) and sharp losses for CSU and SPD.

Not many councils being counted in Bavaria (see map with TurnOut on the left), but so far the results are gains for GREENS, FW, AfD and losses for CSU and SPD (see on the right):
