In St.Gallen the SVP is quasi safe - as usual, the weaker left candidate (here narrowly GPS) will step aside, but for stopping SVP both would have to do so - to gain in the runOff on April 30th the SenateSeat from SPS: The runOff will happen this sunDay and will be a duel of 2 woMen (the 1 Indep.-man does not count): The woMan of TheGreens announced immediately - as usual in the RedGreen-camp - to back the stronger woMan of SPS. Yet, denying SVP the seat would have required them to back the FDP-woMan (but it would be presently not go down well, if they proposed voting tactically for the party of the "banksters"). The 2nd placed FDP-er stepped also down and endorsed quasi the SVP (it's after all the canton of the in an [in]famous way economically liberal HochSchuleSG/HSG...).

But that includes also traditionally vibrant industrial barons. Their mouthPiece - the "St.Galler TagBlatt" - does not fit very well into continental Europe's left"liberal" conFormism.

In St.Gallen the SVP-woMan won as expected clearly. Senators since 1899: In Geneva RedGreen will have lost its majority in the government. KingMaker will be nobody else than Maudet, PLR/FDP's exStar, who was expelled for corruption (DubaiVisit free at charge). MCG lost, too, and puts the bourgeois Alliance into question; UDC/SVP was chanceless.

Glarus: cantonal ministers since 1978: SVP gained a seat from FDP, whose candidate had performed badly in round I and stepped down. SVP ran against TheMid and won by just 74 (!!!) votes. Thus it will be the dominant force, at least in government for the next time.

Thurgau/TG is situated in the NE-corner of SwitzerLand: ...and generally reformed (with a substantial catholic minority): While surrounding areas had industry - Zurich, Schaffhausen, textile in St.Gall(en) and Vorarlberg – TG was nicknamed “MostIndien” (=CiderIndia, a play with OstIndien=EastIndia) and famous for its bears (today more for apples). But although such selfPerCeption plays a role and many are deriving from farmers, only 5% are working nowadays directly in the agroSector and over 30% in the industry (mainly small&medium sized). Also urban progressives despising TG as even for CH-levels “boring” are not aware, that the canton had a tradition of rural “radicalism” (=leftLiberalism), represented by the Democrats, a splinter of FDP. (Amusingly the FDP was in french WestCH a coalition of New Money and those folksy Radicals with the Old Money forming its own “Liberal Party”, whereas in german EastCH Old&New Money dominated and the Radicals formed the “Dem.s”.) Of course: In the present climate noThing is left of that moderately left tradition (also not, that in the 1990ies and 2000ies SVP-TG was often not excited by Blocher moving the party into a new direction). ElectionResults for - big federal chamber ("NationalRat"): -- trends (=deViations from CH-average): --- TG minus CH: --- TG divided by CH: - small federal chamber ("StändeRat" = Senate): - cantonal ministers: -- split by sexes: - cantonal parliament: -- %: -- seats: Apropos SVP: In 2 other strongHolds - neighbouring Sankt Gall(en) and Schwyz – they improved recently by 5% (an earthQuake for Swiss levels), in Uri not, though:

With most municipalities counted a first proJection for the final outCome is out: Seats: So SVP is just stagnating, while "AufRecht" (=antiVaxxers) gains 2%. TheGreens once again losing from their strong results last term.

Yes, i read that joke, too. And albeit such sparkling bonMots are in some way allWays right, they are factually not quite correct: TG is at least known for its apples and both have had the highest inCrease of population in recent years.

ZH is just too expensive. Try getting an EFH for under 2 million... beggars can't be choosers - hence the flyover cantons going up in population

Sankt Gall(en) had toDay its runOff for the 2 remaining ministers. SVP tried to get - as the canton's by far biggest party - 2, but failed, although both had been ahead in round I. As expected, SPS was once more able to defend its 2nd one in a runOff. Thus it will remain 2 for SPS, Mid, FDP each and 1 for SVP. PartyComposition since 1803: BreakDown by sexes:

Canton Uri had toDay its runOff. SPS lost its sole minister, thus it will be a purely "bourgeois" government from now on. TheMid gained the seat and has as a result regained its overall majority in the cabinet (someTimes history seems to go backwards...): 3 seats for the parliament had to be filled: SVP won 2, the third one will be an Independent. With the election of a FDP-councillor into government a third round will take place in 1 elec.district, but the outCome shouldn't change anymore.
