Finally the Germans will agree on the ECB-money being spent for the Italian government's waste, if they stay in the Euro - awful!

This is all shaping up very nicely. The pretence that this is manageable will continue until the next economic downturn. 2019? 2020? All those who are against “austerity” will have a good control. Watch and learn ....

Watch and learn .... and all those who arent but are in government by the next economic downturn might lose out to those who are. The irony.

I was in Como yesterday before heading home. I spotted a MS5 stall and a Lega stall, opposite each other, for members to vote at. Seemed very civil.
As more of a microcosm of what is going on, I also saw an Italian ranting at a black woman, and an African bloke in his late twenties aggressively panhandling.

It was approved by more than 90% of the vote.

On immigration and associated crime the new government wants to:
- try to reform the Dublin agreement to take pressure off frontline states like Italy. - intensify and speed up deportation procedures. - intensify the fight against human trafficking. - close radical Islamic associations and places of worship. - introduce a register of imams. - increase the national police force (unspecified by how much).

In principle none of those are especially crazy and most are pretty sound. But as we've seen in the UK something like "speed up deportation procedures" can be a minefield.

They are not. The Lega might be hard-right, but there were actual fascists one could vote for over them. Plus, their Northern supremacist ideology is anathema to the Whole Italy ideas of Italy's far-right. No fears that the loons of MS5 will be in charge I see.

What’s the prediction for the coalition to collapse before the end of 2019?

Says more about the Grauniad than M5S of course - they'd still be gushing if M5S had managed to form a government with the PD.

Conte gives up.
One big step closer to fresh elections.
